UNIT 8 PROPOSAL

Name: Elena Chiriac
Pathway: Level 3 Acting
Project name: Love and Information FINAL MAJOR PROJECT.

Section one: Rationale (approx 100 words)

During this course, I have learned new techniques ever since we started working for the Greek Theatre. I've learned how to trust my partner, how to work with a team and this made me more confident in my own abilities.

The second performance was the Seagull written by Constantin Stanislavski. Working with his theories, also helped us while we had the 3rd play, Macbeth.
I've also had the opportunity to work with a professional company, The Broken Hearted Youth. They taught us how to lead our feelings while we perform. I have also learned how to get into the character and not just to say my lines. It is very important to know as much as possible about the character you play, about the time and the place where the action happens.
I am not afraid to embarrass myself anymore. I realized that not everybody must like you and I am not afraid of the audience to judge me anymore. Working with so many people helped me to understand how they think. It helped me to see that the people around me shouldn't be a competition for me because there's always something to learn from them.

Section two: Project concept  (approx 200 words)

Ever since we came back from the Easter Holiday, our class was given the script of "Love and Information" by Caryl Churchill. It is an episodic play and it doesn't have a storyline or punctuation.  None of the characters are named and they can be double cast. I believe that this allowed us to ample freedom to play with the storyline of the play along with the certain themes and questions we wanted to highlight. The play has a lot of interesting themes such as friendship, religion, loyalty, technology, facts, mental health, and love.
This play will offer us the chance to improve our skills in working as a team. The skills that we achieved during the Stanislavski project will help us to expand ideas and to build the characters.
For this play, it is very important to use our imagination because we have to set the scene, to create and build the characters giving them ages and a back story. The place and the time are not specified so we will have to work on this as a team as well. This is our last project and we don't have a lot of time so we will also have to quickly go through everything and learn our lines as fast as possible.

Section three: Evaluation  (approx. 50 words)

What I want to do for this unit is to get notes and feedbacks as much as possible from the lessons. I would like to learn my lines very quickly so we can start rehearsing and building our characters, to give them life and to do the best version of "Love and Information".

Project action plan and timetable

Week no
Tasks
Notes

 Read and understand the play
We need to get the script and go through it

2

Organize who will be acting each scene

Distribute and build the characters

Write down the ideas for each scene, we still need to use our scripts.

Organize the play and the running order
Some of the scenes can be rehearsed off script

4

Start rehearsing off script and talk
about the backstories of our characters

We need our characters to be already built.

Decide together the lightning and the costumes.

Continue rehearsing.

We still need to rehearse and discuss with the technical theatre for the performance

Do a running through in the theatre to get used with the stage.

All we need is energy, everything is ready for the performance.
